Attraction is proud to announce the production of Deadliest Catch: Northern Edge, a bold Canadian iteration of the legendary franchise from Warner Bros. Discovery. Currently filming in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and the North Atlantic, the eight-episode (60-minute) series is slated to premiere in Winter 2027 on Discovery in Canada.
A Proven Success in Canada
For over two decades, Deadliest Catch has revolutionized factual television. The brand remains a powerhouse in this country: in 2025, it ranked as the #1 series on the Discovery network, reaching more than 1.6 million Canadians. Northern Edge carries this legacy forward by plunging viewers into one of the most lucrative and dangerous fisheries on the planet.
The Challenge of the North Atlantic
Beneath the frozen surface of the North Atlantic lies the largest crab biomass in the world—a billion-dollar bounty. For Atlantic fishers, it is a high-stakes gamble where crews face towering waves in boats that are often smaller than those of their American counterparts, offering a unique perspective on Canadian grit, heritage, and resilience.
World-Class Partnership
This project is the result of a major collaboration between Attraction, Rogers Sports & Media, Fremantle, and Original Productions.
“With Deadliest Catch: Northern Edge, we’re proud to bring this iconic format to Canada for the first time. It is a distinctly Canadian story of grit and survival in one of the world’s most unforgiving oceans” says Kale Stockwell, Head of Original Programming, Rogers Sports & Media.
“Attraction is honoured to collaborate with Rogers, Fremantle, and Original Productions on this legendary format while celebrating the enduring strength of Atlantic Canadians,” adds Richard Speer, President of Attraction.
