Attraction is thrilled to receive 5 nominations today for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards.

The documentary Secret Agents of the Underground Railroad continues to garner honours as it is nominated in the Best History Documentary Program or Series category for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards.

Produced by Richard Jean-Baptiste and directed by Adrian Callender for The Nature of Things (CBC - Gem), the documentary follows host Anthony Morgan in an excavation at Heritage Park, a remarkable site in Niagara Falls that was home to the Cataract House, an upscale hotel that stood between 1825 and 1945.

Today, it looks like a regular park but in the past, it was the most important station of the Underground Railroad on the Niagara Frontier: a Black Resistance operation run by the hotel’s staff and led by the hotel’s head waiter John Morrison, who guided enslaved people to freedom in Canada.

Attraction’s motion picture Le temps d'un été (One Summer) has also received four nominations. Guy Nadon and Marc-André Leclair are both nominated for Best Performance in a Supporting Role, Comedy. Marie-Claude Lafontaine, JF (Jafaz) Ferland, and Simon Beaupré are nominated for Achievement in Visual Effects, while Nermin Grbic and Carole Bertini got nominated for Achievement in Hair.

A true phenomenon in theaters, 'Le temps d’un été' has garnered 2.3 million dollars at the box office, making it the biggest success for a Quebec film since 2019. The motion picture was directed by Louise Archambault, based on an original idea and screenplay by Marie Vien.

The nominees for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards were chosen by voting members of the Canadian Academy and by nominating juries, conducted virtually with representatives from the film, television, and digital media industries. The membership will now cast their votes between Thursday, March 7 and Monday, March 25 to determine the winners.

The 2024 Canadian Screen Awards will be handed out in a series of award shows at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto all culminating with The 2024 Canadian Screen Awards broadcast show, hosted by Mae Martin, where viewers at home can tune in to be a part of all the excitement.
